Regular Season Round 15: Kharkivski Sokoly - SumDU 86-76

Very important is a road loss of third ranked SumDU (8-6) against sixth ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (7-8) on Saturday night. Visiting SumDU was defeated by Kharkivski Sokoly in Kharkiv 86-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SumDU. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-76. Kharkivski Sokoly dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to SumDU's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for forward Roman Olkhovskyi (196-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Andrii Shalamov (202-96) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Igor Kryvych (198-78) with 23 points and point guard Igor Starodub (187-97) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kharkivski Sokoly. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mariupol. Loser SumDU dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Kharkivski Sokoly will again meet at home higher ranked SumDU (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SumDU will have a break next round.
