Regular Season Round 17: Jena II - Herzogenaurach 81-82

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Herzogenaurach and 13th ranked Jena II had identical 4-10 record. But Jena II was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Herzogenaurach 82-81 on Saturday night. Herzogenaurach shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Daniel Krause (194-88) saved the victory by scoring 23 points. Austrian swingman Michael Kaiser (195-82) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) answered with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jan Heber (187-98) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for Jena II. Jena II's coach Christopher Schreiber tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Herzogenaurach (5-10) moved-up to tenth place in South-East. Loser Jena II dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Herzogenaurach will face higher ranked Topstar (#8) in Diedorf in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jena II will play on the road against Muenchen OSB (#7) and hope to win that game.
