Very expected game when bottom-ranked Bornova (0-15) was smashed by fourth ranked Galatasaray (7-8) in Istanbul 97-44 on Saturday. Galatasaray held Bornova to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Galatasaray forced 24 Bornova turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Bornova's players. It was a good game for Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 7 points and 7 assists for the winners. Galatasaray's coach Marina Maljkovic felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Australian forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: Lebedintsev Andriy) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bornova. Galatasaray moved-up to third place, which they share with Canik Belediye. Bornova lost their fifteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul Uni.
