Regular Season Round 15: Marburg - Saarlouis 76-68

Rather expected game when 9th ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (5-10) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (9-6) 76-68. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TV Saarlouis Royals won third quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Pharmaserv Marburg made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for the former international power forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. International forward Marie Bertholdt (183, college: Santa Clara) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five BC Pharmaserv Marburg players scored in double figures. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's coach Patrick Unger allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvian forward Sabine Niedola (184-91) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Dutch swingman Jamailah Adams (180-93) added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for TV Saarlouis Royals. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Herner. TV Saarlouis Royals at the other side dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Chemnitz. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against higher ranked Fireballs (#3) in Bad Aibling in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TV Saarlouis Royals will play at home against ChemCats Chemnitz (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
