Regular Season Round 17: Juventus - Nevezis 110-81
Date: January 20, 2018
Fifth ranked Juventus (8-12) crushed at home 9th ranked Nevezis (5-16) by 29 points 110-81, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Juventus. Nevezis managed to win fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Juventus dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 28. They outrebounded Nevezis 38-23 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Juventus shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Nevezis' players. The best player for the winners was center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Anthony Ireland (175-91, college: Loyola Mary) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Juventus players scored in double figures. American point guard Lester Medford (178-93, college: Baylor, agency: 3Eye) produced 17 points and 7 assists and international swingman Tadas Sedekerskis (203-98) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Juventus maintains fifth place with 8-12 record. Loser Nevezis keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Juventus will meet bottom-ranked Vytautas (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nevezis will play against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
