There was no surprise when 8th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (5-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Gruner Stern Keltern (13-2) 65-59. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 17 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-15 ChemCats Chemnitz's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 65-59 at the end of the game. Gruner Stern Keltern dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to ChemCats Chemnitz's 30. They outrebounded ChemCats Chemnitz 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass.
