Regular Season Round 19: Vechta - Crailsheim 86-78

Round 19 in ProA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Vechta where host SC Rasta Vechta (17-2) beat league's leader Crailsheim Merlins (16-3) 86-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. It was a key game for the top position in the league. SC Rasta Vechta made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for SC Rasta Vechta especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Chris Carter (195-92, college: Florida Tech, agency: Interperformances) fired 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Joshua Young (185-88, college: Drake) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Douglas Spradley used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Michael Cuffee (195-83, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SC Rasta Vechta keeps a position of league leader. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Vechta. Crailsheim Merlins will play next round against Ehingen/Urspringschule trying to make it back to the top of the standings. SC Rasta Vechta will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked White Wings in Hanau.
