Regular Season Round 18: Bremerhaven - Jena 72-80

Date: January 21, 2018
Very expected game when 17th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (3-14) lost at home to twelfth ranked Science City Jena (8-9) 80-72 on Sunday. Science City Jena made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Maximilian Ugrai (201-95) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 18 points and 6 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) by American point guard Jordan Hulls (180-90, college: Indiana) did not help to save the game for Eisbaeren Bremerhaven. His fellow American import center Geoffrey Groselle (212-93, college: Creighton) added 7 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Science City Jena moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Giessen 46ers. Loser Eisbaeren Bremerhaven keeps the seventeenth position with 14 games lost. Science City Jena will meet higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
