Regular Season Round 15: Fenerbahce - Mersin BSB 73-78

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Fenerbahce (13-2) against fifth ranked Mersin BSB (9-6) on Sunday night. Host Fenerbahce was defeated by Mersin BSB in a tough game in Istanbul 73-78. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. Mersin BSB made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (187-95) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) chipped in 19 points and 8 assists. Five Mersin BSB players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Italian guard Giorgia Sottana (178-88, agency: Two Points) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists and Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Fenerbahce's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mersin BSB have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Fenerbahce at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Mersin BSB's next round opponent will be Ormanspor (#5) in Ankara. Fenerbahce will play on the road against Bornova and hope to win that game.
