Regular Season Round 20: Gmunden - Vienna 90-98

The most important game in the last round took place in Gmunden between second ranked Gmunden Swans (13-5) and fifth ranked Vienna (10-8) on Friday night. Gmunden Swans were defeated by Vienna in a tough game at home 90-98. Gmunden Swans trailed by 20 points after 3 quarters before a 33-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 90-98 at the end of the game. Vienna made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game, while Gmunden Swans only scored six points from the stripe. Strangely Gmunden Swans outrebounded Vienna 32-20 including 20 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Vienna especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Gmunden Swans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 7 assists and Czech center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, college: Iowa St., agency: Interperformances) who added 26 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. International forward Enis Murati (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 20 points and 9 assists and Matthias Linortner (193-97) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vienna maintains fifth position with 10-8 record. Gmunden Swans at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Arkadia. Vienna are looking forward to face league's second-placed Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gmunden Swans will have a break next round.
