Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Mersin Uni (7-11) lost to fifth ranked Cankaya (13-5) in Ankara 75-86 on Friday. Cankaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Vicki Baugh (193-89, college: Tennessee) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field). Center Derin Yaya (174-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. The former international forward Nazli Guler (184-82, agency: 1x1 Sports) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and American center Candice Agee (198-94, college: Penn St., agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Mersin Uni in the defeat. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cankaya. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Mersin Uni dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Cankaya will meet league's leader Bodrum on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin Uni will play against Edirne (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
