Very expected game when 13th ranked Istanbulgucu (5-13) lost to fifth ranked Edremit (12-6) in Balikesir 60-78 on Saturday. Edremit looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Hande Celebi (-90, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Betul Pehlivan (178-88, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Dilek Topdemir (-92) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Istanbulgucu in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Edremit maintains fifth place with 12-6 record, which they share with Izmit. Loser Istanbulgucu keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Edremit will meet Bayrakli (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Istanbulgucu will play against the league's second-placed Bursa BSB and hope to secure a win.
