Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#4) and Istanbul Uni (#7). Istanbul Uni was defeated at home 75-87 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Galatasaray players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American guard Kaela Davis (188-95, college: S.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 24 points and Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) supported her with 18 points and 4 assists. Galatasaray's coach Marina Maljkovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: ProDep Management) did not help to save the game for Istanbul Uni. American guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) added 17 points for lost side. Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. Galatasaray (8-8) used an opportunity after Cukurova lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Istanbul Uni lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 15 games lost. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Besiktas.
