Regular Season Round 15: Recklinghausen - Braunschweig 67-58

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Recklinghausen (4-10) beat at home 8th ranked Braunschweig (4-9) 67-58. It looked good early as Braunschweig took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Recklinghausen had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Braunschweig was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-67. It was a great shooting night for Recklinghausen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was Bosnian forward Lejla Bejtic (176-85) who scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Chantal Neuwald (180-95) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. Recklinghausen's coach Peer Reckinger used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) who recorded 19 points and 4 assists and guard Melody Haertle (168-0) added 17 points respectively. Recklinghausen moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Gruenberg. Braunschweig at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Recklinghausen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
