Regular Season Round 18: Westerstede - Weser Bsk/BTS 86-64

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (3-13) was outplayed on the road by ninth ranked Westerstede (7-8) 86-64 on Sunday. Westerstede dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Weser Bsk/BTS's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Weser Bsk/BTS was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Nigel Pruitt (201-94, college: Kennesaw St.) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Marcello Schroeder (195-87) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Pruitt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Westerstede players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Ismar Kriese (201-94) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Lukas Koehler (196-96) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Weser Bsk/BTS's coach Dejan Stojanovski gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Westerstede moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Bergedorf. Loser Weser Bsk/BTS keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Westerstede will face higher ranked Rendsburg (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Weser Bsk/BTS will play against ALBA-2 (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
