Rather predictable result in Funchal where eighth ranked CAB Madeira (8-8) beat 11th ranked Barreirense (3-14) 97-92. CAB Madeira made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Fabio Lima (198-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Tommie Eddie (201-82, college: Mississippi) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Demetric Austin (201, college: Dillard) came up with 29 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively for Barreirense in the defeat. Four Barreirense players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ovarense. Newly promoted Barreirense keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. CAB Madeira's next round opponent will be higher ranked FC Porto Ferpinta (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barreirense will play against Illiabum (#5) in Ilhavo and hope to win that game.
