Regular Season Round 19: Gotha II - Bamberg 89-63

Date: February 3, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Bamberg (5-12) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Gotha II (14-3) 89-63 on Saturday. Gotha II outrebounded Bamberg 43-26 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Gotha II looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Bamberg's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gotha II made 10 blocks. It was a great evening for Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamae (190-99, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Ferdinand Zylka (190-98, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 25 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gotha II players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Michael Lachmann (192-89) responded with 14 points (made all of his seven free throws) and point guard Kevin Jefferson (175-96) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Bamberg's coach Rainer Wolfschmitt gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gotha II. They keep a position of South-East leader, which they share with Treuchtlingen and Oberhaching. Loser Bamberg keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Gotha II will face Schwabing (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bamberg will play against Herzogenaurach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
