Regular Season Round 16: Oliveirense - Ovarense 76-74

Sixth-ranked Ovarense (9-9) was very close to win a game against second ranked Oliveirense (14-4) in Oliveira. Oliveirense managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Oliveirense made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Ovarense was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and American forward James Ellisor (195-90, college: Bemidji St.) who added 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Canadian-British forward Jermel Kennedy (201-89, college: Lander) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Will Perry (180-94, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) scored 5 points and 10 assists. Ovarense's coach Nuno Manarte rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Oliveirense maintains second position with 14-4 record behind leader Benfica. Ovarense at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with CAB Madeira. Oliveirense will play against bottom-ranked Electrico FC (#12) in Ponte de Sor in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ovarense will play at home against the league's leader Benfica (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
