We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Coimbra where 8th ranked Boa Viagem (8-9) was defeated by ninth ranked Olivais (7-11) 68-60 on Saturday. Olivais outrebounded Boa Viagem 34-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Brazilian guard Taina Paixao (176-91) stepped up and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American forward Christin Mercer (185, college: Jacksonville, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Ugandan forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and Sara Ressurreicao (170-93) scored 9 points and 11 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Olivais. They moved-up to eighth place. Boa Viagem lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Olivais will face league's leader Uniao Sportiva in Ponta Delgada in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
