Regular Season Round 19: Kaiserslautern - Crailsheim II 97-64

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Crailsheim II (5-12) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Kaiserslautern (10-8) 97-64 on Sunday. Kaiserslautern dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Crailsheim II's 22. Kaiserslautern forced 23 Crailsheim II turnovers and outrebounded them 51-37 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kaiserslautern looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Japhet McNeil (183-85, college: Bridgeport) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Forward Waldemar Nap (202-93) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. McNeil attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Kaiserslautern's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Vincent Hoffmann (206-1) responded with 19 points and Croatian point guard Vladan Lazic (188-1) scored 12 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kaiserslautern. They moved-up to sixth place in South-West, which they share with Stuttgart and Tuebingen II. Crailsheim II lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Kaiserslautern will face BG Karlsruhe (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Crailsheim II will play against the league's leader BV Villingen-Schwenningen and hope to win that game.
