Regular Season Round 17: Pinar Karsiyaka - Gaziantep 74-67

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Gaziantep (3-14) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (6-11) 74-67 on Sunday. Pinar Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 34. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 75.0 percentage. Pinar Karsiyaka looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Hungarian power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American Sean Armand (196-91, college: Iona) produced 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Patrick Miller (185-92, college: Tennessee St.) added 19 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Gaziantep's coach Nenad Markovic tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Galatasaray and Demir IBB. Gaziantep lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Galatasaray (#10) in Istanbul in the next round. Gaziantep will play at home against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
