There was no surprise when 9th ranked Bergedorf (7-10) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Rendsburg (11-6) 73-60 on Saturday. Rendsburg made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: Cal.Baptist) who scored 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Sven Gottschalk (198-92) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Marvin Steinberg (200-87) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and center Markus Timm (204-88) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rendsburg have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in North with 11-6 record. Bergedorf lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Rendsburg will face ALBA-2 (#11) in Berlin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bergedorf will play on the road against Ebstorf and hope to win that game.
