Regular Season Round 17: Bad Homburg - Wasserburg II 85-60

Date: February 10, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Wasserburg II (3-12) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Homburger TG (12-4) 85-60 on Saturday. Homburger TG dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Wasserburg II's 36. Homburger TG forced 24 Wasserburg II turnovers. Canadian guard Alexandra Polishchuk (168-87, college: Laurentian) stepped up and scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Stephanie Furr (179, college: Wisc.-Parkside) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Homburger TG players scored in double figures. Homburger TG had such big advantage that coach Jay Brown felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Elizabeth Wood (178-93, college: Maine) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and Canadian guard Kristine Lalonde (178-91, college: Vermont) scored 10 points and 4 assists. Homburger TG have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in South with 12-4 record behind leader Freiburg. Wasserburg II lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Homburger TG will meet Rhein Main Baskets (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Wasserburg II will play against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (#6) and hope to secure a win.
