Regular Season Round 20: Eisbaeren - Kaiserslautern 87-61

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked BG Karlsruhe (3-15) smashed at home higher ranked Kaiserslautern (10-9) 87-61 on Saturday. They outrebounded Kaiserslautern 45-24 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. BG Karlsruhe shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Kaiserslautern's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Josh Mayberry (190-95, college: Dominican, IL) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Croatian center Jure Lozancic (211-83, college: Jacksonville) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Mayberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four BG Karlsruhe players scored in double figures. BG Karlsruhe's coach Goran Miljevic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Thomas Erb (192-82) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Aaron Ellis (205-87, college: Wichita St.) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. BG Karlsruhe maintains fourteenth position in South-West with 3-15 record. Loser Kaiserslautern keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. BG Karlsruhe will face higher ranked Koblenz (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
