Regular Season Round 17: Helios - Sencur Gor. 82-85

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Liga Nova KBM took place in Domzale. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Helios (10-7) to seventh ranked Sencur Gor. (9-8) 85-82 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Helios. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Helios won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sencur Gor. won last quarter 21-19. They made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Smiljan Pavic (210-80) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian guard Miljan Pavkovic (178-81) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Sencur Gor.'s coach Radomir Mijanovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian power forward Bozo Djumic (208-92, agency: AproK Sports Group) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and international forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Sencur Gor. and four Helios players scored in double figures. Sencur Gor. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Helios at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Rogaska. Sencur Gor. is looking forward to face Ilirija (#6) in Ljubljana in the next round. Helios will play on the road against Olimpija (#4) in Ljubljana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
