Very important is a home loss of second ranked Mersin MBK (14-5) against sixth ranked Izmit (13-6) on Sunday night. Host Mersin MBK was defeated by Izmit in Mersin 66-56. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mersin MBK. It was a great shooting night for Izmit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The winners were led by American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ebru Torun (-87, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) supported her with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by forward Asli Sevinc (178-79, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Mersin MBK. Guard Deniz Boz (172-82, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Izmit have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cankaya and Edremit. Mersin MBK at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Bursa BSB. Izmit will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mersin MBK will play on the road against Elazig and hopes to get back on the winning track.
