Regular Season Round 20: Niko-Basket - SumDU 107-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mykolaiv. First ranked Niko-Basket faced 4th ranked SumDU. Host Niko-Basket (15-2) smashed guests from Sumy (10-9) 107-80. The game without a history. Niko-Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Niko-Basket outrebounded SumDU 47-21 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) who added 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. Niko-Basket's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Igor Starodub (187-97) responded with 30 points and 4 assists and forward Sergei Glinchak (188-89) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Niko-Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-2 record, which they share with Dinamo. Loser SumDU keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Niko-Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SumDU will play against the league's second-placed Zolotoi Vek (#2) in Kirovograd and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
