Very expected game when 8th ranked Ginasio (8-10) was crushed on the road by third ranked Maia Basket (12-6) 86-62 on Tuesday. Maia Basket shot 20 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Ginasio only scored three points from the stripe. Maia Basket forced 26 Ginasio turnovers. Ginasio was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Paulo Sereno (201-96) who added 22 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Marco Goncalves (206-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Pedro Marques (183-93) scored 5 points and 9 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maia Basket maintains third position in Places 1-8 with 12-6 record having six points less than leader Imortal. Loser Ginasio dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Maia Basket will face league's second-placed Esgueira / Oli on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ginasio will play against Belenenses CF (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
