Rather predictable result when second ranked ALBA Berlin (17-4) defeated at home 6th ranked EWE Baskets (13-9) 91-83. ALBA Berlin made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Mickey McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 17 points and 10 assists (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for EWE Baskets. Five ALBA Berlin and four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ALBA Berlin have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having just one point less than leader B.Muenchen. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the sixth place with nine games lost. ALBA Berlin's next round opponent will be BBC Bayreuth (#4) at home.
