Regular Season Round 23: Cherkasy - Zaporizhye 104-86

Very predictable result when third ranked Cherkasy (16-8) defeated at home bottom-ranked Zaporizhye (4-19) 104-86. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. Zaporizhye was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cherkasy forced 21 Zaporizhye turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Oleksandr Kobets (197-96) who led the winners and scored 19 points. The former international forward Volodymyr Koniev (203-89) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Yuriy Kondrakov (190-96) came up with 20 points and 6 assists and center Valeriy Anisimov (210-90, agency: AproK Sports Group) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Zaporizhye in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Cherkasy. They maintain third place with 16-8 record having four points less than leader Dnipro. Zaporizhye at the other side stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Cherkasy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zaporizhye will play on the road against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) in Kyiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
