Regular Season Round 19: Rocks - Flames 80-61

Not a big story in a game in Mattersburg where 9th ranked Flames (7-12) were rolled over by seventh ranked Rocks (11-8) 80-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rocks. Flames managed to win fourth quarter 15-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rocks forced 20 Flames turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Arnold Fripp (201-93, college: Coppin St.) fired 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Royce Woolridge (190-92, college: Grand Canyon) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Rocks' coach Joey Vickery used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82, agency: Promotex) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and Christian Kunstner (186-90) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Rocks have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Blackbirds. Loser Flames keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Rocks will meet league's second-placed Mustangs in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flames will play against Worthersee Piraten (#12) and hope to secure a win.
