Regular Season Round 21: Kamp-Lintfort - Hagen BG 62-72

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Kamp-Lintfort (4-17) lost at home to fifth ranked Hagen BG (13-8) 72-62 on Saturday. Strangely Kamp-Lintfort outrebounded Hagen BG 57-39 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Bulgarian guard Milen Zahariev (190-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Lennart Boner (206) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Michael Schmak (180-87) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists in the effort for Kamp-Lintfort. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hagen BG moved-up to fourth place in West. Newly promoted Kamp-Lintfort keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Hagen BG will face higher ranked Hertener Loewen (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kamp-Lintfort will play against Dorsten (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
