Regular Season Round 18: Bornova - Mersin BSB 64-104

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Bornova's (0-17) home loss to fourth ranked Mersin BSB (12-6) 64-104 on Saturday. Mersin BSB forced 25 Bornova turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a good game for Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (187-95) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Asena Yalcin (170-91, agency: Fly Basketball) contributed with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Four Mersin BSB players scored in double figures. American forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Australian forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: Lebedintsev Andriy) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bornova. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin BSB have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-6 record. Newly promoted Bornova still closes the standings with 17 games lost. Mersin BSB will face Istanbul Uni (#6) at home in the next round. Bornova will play against Adana ASKI in Mersin and hopes to get finally their first victory.
