Regular Season Round 21: Speyer - Kronberg 94-79

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Kronberg (7-12) lost on the road to second ranked Speyer (17-2) 94-79 on Saturday. Speyer made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Kronberg only scored five points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for Dominican-Spanish power forward Michel Acosta (201-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Jordan Rezendes (188, college: Mass.-Dartmouth) contributed with 34 points (!!!), 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. Forward Frederik Zwiener (195) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yannick Schicktanz (186-90) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Kronberg. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Speyer have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in South-West with 17-2 record behind leader Muenster. Kronberg lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Speyer will face Fellbach (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kronberg will play against Tuebingen II and hope to win that game.
