Second Stage Round 6: Levski - Asenovets 27-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Levski's (1-4) home loss to eighth ranked Asenovets (2-2) 27-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Asenovets. Levski managed to win second period 7-4. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Levski to just 2 points in fourth quarter and to 13 points in first half. Asenovets held Levski to an opponent 17.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Asenovets forced 30 Levski turnovers. Swingman Petya Argirova (166-0) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Borislava Hristova (161-98) chipped in 12 points and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Viktoria Koycheva (178-0) with 4 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Anna Stoyanova (165-1) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Asenovets maintains eighth position with 2-2 record. Levski at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Asenovets are looking forward to face higher ranked NSA (#5) in Sofia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Levski will play at home against Cherno More (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
