Regular Season Round 14: HAI - Rivne 74-94

The game in Kharkiv supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Rivne (10-11) played at the court of 6th ranked HAI (7-11). Rivne did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 94-74 on Monday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Rivne's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-15 extending their advantage to 20 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to HAI's 28. Rivne forced 21 HAI turnovers. Viktoriya Shmatova scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Viktoriya Kasatkina (187-92) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. Rivne's coach Vyacheslav Kovaleskyy used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international center Oleksandra Chek (191-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Olena Vergun scored 11 points. Rivne maintains third position with 10-11 record having seven points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Loser HAI dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Rivne will face league's leader Kyiv Basket on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. HAI will play against Tavriyska Zirka (#8) in Kherson and hope to win that game.
