Second Stage Round 1: Triglav - Maribor 76-44

Rather expected game in Kranj where Maribor (7-8) was crushed by Triglav (12-3) 76-44 on Tuesday. Triglav dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Maribor's 20. Triglav forced 20 Maribor turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Maribor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international point guard Rebeka Abramovic (172-93) stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Maja Jakobcic (184-97) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side international Tina Cvijanovic (173-98) responded with 6 points and 9 assists and guard Simona Kuzma (168-87) scored 12 points. Maribor's coach Ziga Ravnikar gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Triglav are looking forward to face Grosbasket (#6) in Grosuplje in the next round. Maribor will play on the road against Celje and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
