Rather expected game when 10th ranked Herzogenaurach (7-13) was edged on the road by seventh ranked Ansbach (10-10) 107-106 on Friday. Ansbach well out of reach of Herzogenaurach shooting 73.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Herzogenaurach's players. Forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St., agency: Athleadz) chipped in 24 points and 6 assists during the contest. Ansbach's coach Martin Ides used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Patrick Horstmann (201-87, college: Keiser) responded with 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and guard Daniel Krause (194-88) scored 20 points. Four Ansbach and five Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. Ansbach maintains seventh position in South-East with 10-10 record. Loser Herzogenaurach dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. Ansbach will face Topstar (#9) in Diedorf in the next round. Herzogenaurach will play at home against TSV Troester and hope to win that game.
