Regular Season Round 20: Flames - Piraten 83-64

Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (0-20) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-64 loss to ninth ranked Flames (8-12) in Vienna. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. Worthersee Piraten was better in fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Worthersee Piraten's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Worthersee Piraten's players. Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82, agency: Promotex) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Colin Fuchs-Robetin (189-95) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Flames' coach Franz Zderadicka allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Ian Moschik (203-96) replied with 23 points and naturalized Bosnian forward Maximilian Kunovjanek (199-87) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Worthersee Piraten. Flames maintains ninth position with 8-12 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings. Flames will play against league's second-placed UBC St. Polten in St.Polten in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Worthersee Piraten will play at home against Mustangs (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
