Regular Season Round 17: Stevnsgade - Lemvig 77-71

Date: February 24, 2018
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Lemvig (2-16) was defeated on the road by third ranked Stevnsgade (12-6) 77-71. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-22. But Lemvig won second period 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stevnsgade forced 20 Lemvig turnovers. Strangely Lemvig outrebounded Stevnsgade 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Lemvig's players. The former international guard Ida Pretzmann (178-90, college: TCU) nailed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Maja Gerlyng-Hansen (179-88, college: Siena) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists. Stevnsgade's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Lisa Murphy (185-94, college: Carnegie Mellon) came up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and forward Okako Adika (175-96) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Lemvig in the defeat. Stevnsgade maintains third place with 12-6 record having just two points less than leader Horsholm. Lemvig lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Stevnsgade will play against league's second-placed Virum on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lemvig will play against Vaerlose (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
