Regular Season Round 36: Neptunas-Akv. - Zalgiris II 79-76

Fifth-ranked Zalgiris II (18-17) made lots of trouble for third ranked Neptunas-Akv. (25-11) in Klaipeda on Saturday. Neptunas-Akv. managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected easier game. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Neptunas-Akv. 44-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-86) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. Dziugas Slavinskas (203-98, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Matas Jogela (198-98) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds and forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas-Akv. have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 25-11 record having eight points less than leader Vytis. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the fifth place with 17 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. are looking forward to face league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zalgiris II will play at home against the league's leader Vytis and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
