There was no surprise in Sofia where 8th ranked Asenovets (2-3) was defeated by leader NSA (6-0) 51-46 on Saturday. Asenovets trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 13-7 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 46-51 at the end of the game. NSA dominated on the defensive end, holding Asenovets to just 5 points in second quarter. They held Asenovets to an opponent 17.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.3 percent accuracy of the winners. NSA had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for swingman Maria Svetoslavova (179-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds. The former international guard Zornitsa Naydenova (170-89) helped adding 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Hristina Geraskova (180-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and forward Mihaela Stefanova (173-0) scored 2 points and 14 rebounds. NSA have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted NSA maintains fifth place in Places 5-10 with 6-0 record. Asenovets at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with three games lost. NSA will meet Cherno More (#6) in the next round. Asenovets will play against Septemvri 97 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
