Second Stage Round 6: Balkan 2 - Akademik Sofia 88-80

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Akademik Sofia (3-2) against fourth ranked Balkan 2 (3-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Akademik Sofia was defeated by Balkan 2 in a tough game in Botevgrad 80-88. Balkan 2 forced 21 Akademik Sofia turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Radoslav Kochev (195-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Zdravko Hristov (184-97) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Balkan 2's coach Ventsislav Stoev allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (206-0) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and guard Kostadin Lazarov (187-0) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Akademik Sofia. Five Balkan 2 and four Akademik Sofia players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Balkan 2 maintains fourth position in A with 3-3 record. Akademik Sofia at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Balkan 2 will play against Chernomorets (#5) in Burgas in the next round. Akademik Sofia will play at home against the league's second-placed Vidabasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
