No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Olivais (9-12) beat 11th ranked Academico FC (4-16) in Porto 58-49 on Sunday. Strangely Academico FC outrebounded Olivais 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Christin Mercer (185, college: Jacksonville, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Brazilian guard Taina Paixao (176-91) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. International Isabel Costa (185-97) answered with 8 points and 11 rebounds and international Joana Cortinhas (182-95) added 13 points in the effort for Academico FC. Olivais moved-up to seventh place. Loser Academico FC keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Olivais will face Ovarense (#10) on the road in the next round. Academico FC will play against Benfica and hope to win that game.
