Very expected game in Ankara where 16th ranked Yalova Vip (4-18) was defeated by fifth ranked Cankaya (15-7) 81-77 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Cankaya made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Yalova Vip turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Vicki Baugh (193-89, college: Tennessee) who led her team to a victory scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Derin Yaya (174-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) helped adding 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. American forward Corinne Costa (193-92, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and point guard Tugba Gonen (170-90, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Cankaya moved-up to fourth place. Yalova Vip lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Cankaya will face higher ranked Mersin MBK (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yalova Vip will play against Edirne (#11) and hope to win that game.
