Regular Season Round 23: Salzkotten - Muenster 74-113

Very predictable result when first ranked Muenster (20-2) smashed on the road 9th ranked Salzkotten (8-14) 113-74 on Saturday. They outrebounded Salzkotten 47-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Salzkotten was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Jan Koenig (201-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. American guard Brandon McGill (185-89, college: St.Vincent) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Muenster's coach Phillip Kappenstein felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Thomas Stukenberg (206-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Matthias Finke (190-87) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Muenster. They maintain first place in West with 20-2 record, which they share with Grevenbroich. Salzkotten lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Muenster will face Bonn II (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Salzkotten will play against Duesseldorf (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
