Regular Season Round 19: Trabzonspor - Banvit BK 88-84

An interesting game took place in Trabzon where higher ranked Banvit (11-8) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked Trabzonspor (7-12) 88-84. They made 31-of-40 charity shots (77.5 percent) during the game, while Banvit only scored one point from the stripe. Strangely Banvit outrebounded Trabzonspor 44-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. 32 personal fouls committed by Banvit helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists (made all of his eight free throws). American Caleb Green (203-85, college: ORU) contributed with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Trabzonspor players scored in double figures. Guard Ridvan Oncel (190-97) answered with 17 points and American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Banvit. Trabzonspor have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Galatasaray and Demir IBB. Banvit at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Trabzonspor's next round opponent will be higher ranked Anadolu Efes (#4) in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
