Regular Season Round 23: Mariupol - SumDU 103-94

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked SumDU (10-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Mariupol (9-10) 103-94 on Saturday. SumDU trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 27-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 94-103 at the end of the game. Mariupol shot 60.6 percent from the field and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for guard Kirilo Zuev (196-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Vladyslav Ryzhov (190-94) helped adding 19 points and 8 assists. Forward Maksym Lukyanov (197-94) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and center Pavlo Riazantsev (202-95) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Four Mariupol and five SumDU players scored in double figures. Mariupol maintains sixth place with 9-10 record. SumDU lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Mariupol will face again higher ranked SumDU (#5) in Sumy in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
