Regular Season Round 23: Speyer - Crailsheim II 106-73

Very expected game when 12th ranked Crailsheim II (7-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Speyer (19-2) 106-73 on Saturday. Speyer made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Crailsheim II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for Spanish center Eduard Arques (202-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican-Spanish power forward Michel Acosta (201-92) helped adding 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Four Speyer players scored in double figures. Forward Vincent Hoffmann (206-1) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian point guard Vladan Lazic (188-1) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Speyer. They maintain second place in South-West with 19-2 record behind leader Muenster. Newly promoted Crailsheim II keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Speyer will face TV Langen (#5) on the road in the next round. Crailsheim II will play against Tuebingen II (#7) and hope to win that game.
