An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Berlin. Second ranked ALBA Berlin faced 4th placed BBC Bayreuth. Host ALBA Berlin (18-4) smashed guests from Bayreuth (16-7) 100-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BBC Bayreuth. ALBA Berlin shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. International point guard Joshiko Saibou (188-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin's coach Garcia Aito Reneses felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward DeMon Brooks (201-92, college: Davidson) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for BBC Bayreuth. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for ALBA Berlin. They maintain second place with 18-4 record having just three points less than leader B.Muenchen. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. ALBA Berlin will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. BBC Bayreuth will play against Braunschweig (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
